Nelson Cain was born & raised in Minnesota. He is a self-taught artist and began painting in his teens by his late 20’s, he discovered vodka and the painting stopped. Then in 2008, Nelson found sobriety & his creativity came back with a vengeance. These abstract acrylic works are both organic and geometric. The results are abstract images that are reminiscent of nature (rock, fire, sea, and sky). Contrasting the organic and flowing elements, Nelson incorporates sharp edges and bold colors. The pours vs the graphic elements help him appease his desire for perfection while forcing himself to “let go” and let the paint, well, be paint.
