What is it like to be a tree? What is it like to be a forest? Since grade school, toting around a disposable camera or Polaroid, Lindsay Alsaker has been curious to explore what constitutes the experience and expansiveness of living beings. Now a bit older, from her home in South Minneapolis, she asks these questions through the creation of lyrical and dream-like images, with influences from nature, the human experience, poets like Lorca, and early surrealist photographers like Dora Maar using film photography. Lindsay's hope is to create images that burrow and bend towards the deep and tender parts we all possess; beckoning viewers to explore their inner world, look outward to the bustle of the living world, and all the spaces real or imaginary that lie in-between.
Lindsay has shown her work in galleries throughout Minneapolis and is working on extending her body of work to reach greater audiences throughout artistic and photography communities. Other photographic applications and interests include an experimental mixed media, using an altered cyanotype method to sun-print film photography negatives onto natural fiber clothing, creating one-of-a-kind articles that tell a story and capture the fleeting moments always passing through our field of vision.
