Lauren Jacobson first delved into long-exposure light photography as a teenager in the dim corners of her family home in Faribault, Minnesota. On her 18th birthday, she brought these images to light in her first show at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault, Minnesota.
Jacobson went on to study Studio Art and Art History at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Later she would take her studies abroad to Lancaster University in the UK. It wasn't until 2024 that Jacobson returned to light photography for her Senior Show in the Flaten Art Museum and solo installation in Buntrock Commons at St. Olaf College.
Jacobson's work draws on surreal inspirations, including spirit photography, mystic practices, ghost stories, the spectacular and unknown. Her ghostly images are driven by experimentation and fascination with light and it’s supernatural manifestations through long-exposure. She now lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota
